Description
Common Mode (CM) Boarden Isolated Surge (BIS) protection device is a semiconductor device developed for the surge protection requirements of non-isolated LED drivers. The solution of BIS series connected with MOVs can meet both isolation and surge protection requirements.
For Class I LED devices, the electrical strength isolation requirement is 1000V + 2U (where U is the rated working voltage). This means that the surge protection solutions should have a peak reverse voltage rating up to 1000V + 2U. As a result, the residual voltage is very high under 4kV or 6kV 1.2/50us & 8/20us surge waves for both L-PE and N-PE lines.
The Boarden CM BIS product family can significantly reduce the residual voltage, thus protecting the LED driver safely and reliably.
